1 Overview

Groups are are way of organising policies and actions in Veloopti to enable for their rapid deployment to nodes. It allows new or existing nodes to be quickly configured with the same monitoring as other nodes.

An item linked to a item group is considered to be a member of that group. For instance; a node linked to a node group becomes a member of that group. As a member of that group it inherits policies and actions that have been configured for that group.

Node groups that contain servers that are similarly configured requiring the same type of monitoring. These node groups are then linked to policies that are automatically deployed to the servers. Actions are also linked to the node groups that allows for them to be run on the nodes.

Groups are viewed by clicking on the [[ Groups are created using the create group button Group new.png that are located with the global options. Clicking on a group will take you into the group where more groups can be created.

2.1 Node Groups

Nodes are linked to node groups. Node groups are then linked to policy groups and action groups. All policies linked to a policy group that is linked to a node group are deployed to the nodes that are in it. All actions linked to an action group that is linked to a node group are able to be run on nodes that are in it.

2.2 Policy Groups

Policies are put into policy groups. Policy groups can then be linked to a node group.

2.3 Action Groups

Actions are put into an action group. Action groups can then be linked to a node group. Actions are able to be run on a node from any place in the organisation. This means that for a node that is in the
